A late-night party led Prince George RCMP to drugs and a loaded gun.

Public complaints about noise at a house in the 4400 block of 1st Avenue (between Tabor Boulevard and Claxton Crescent) were called into police at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

"Upon attending the residence, members observed a quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana and other drug trafficking paraphernalia which was seized, as well as a loaded 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition," said Prince George RCMP Const. Lesley Smith.

Mounties arrested a 27-year-old male and two females aged 27 and 26. Weapon and drug related charges are pending as the investigation is still ongoing.

It was the second time in less than three days that police dealt with a case involving both drugs and the threat of guns.

Early Saturday, a major raid on a gang-associated home was conducted. Among the items seized was a loaded, saw-off shotgun. The weapon located at this 1st Avenue incident was not black market-modified but it was a shotgun with a pistol grip and compact barrel.

"Prince George RCMP continue to see a rise in the unlawful possession of firearms amongst the criminal element which could ultimately be used to commit a violent crime," Smith said. "Our members are making a positive difference by seizing these firearms and therefore preventing further distribution and circulation of these types of weapons within our community."

The calls to report the noise were the actions needed to enable police to act, in this case. Smith encouraged anyone who observes problem behaviour or suspicious activity to call police so they can begin the process. In this case it was something Mounties were able to act on immediately.
