There have now been a dozen deaths from COVID-19 at Jubilee Lodge.
Northern Health confirms to PrinceGeorgeMatters a 12th resident has died from the virus at the long-term care facility since its last update on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31).
Additionally, one new infection has been detected in a staff member, bringing the to-date total to 60 since an outbreak was declared on Dec. 12.
Broken down, 48 residents and 12 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 at Jubilee Lodge.
“The toll that COVID-19 has had on many of our most cherished, but most vulnerable, members of our communities has been heavy,” Northern Health CEO Cathy Ulrich said in a release on Dec. 22.
“Our heartfelt condolences go to residents of Jubilee Lodge and their families as well as to their caregivers; the staff, nurses and physicians who continue to provide excellent and compassionate care during understandably challenging circumstances.”
Northern Health spokesperson Eryn Collins adds the last confirmed case within a resident at Jubilee Lodge was Dec. 28.
The first four deaths at the home were reported by the authority on Dec. 22.
As of this publication, Northern Health has recorded 2,017 cases since March 2020 including 27 deaths, per the latest stats from the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).
There are currently 584 active cases, 18 people admitted into critical care among 38 hospitalizations, and 1,396 recoveries.
