One person is dead after a single-vehicle collision Thursday, Nov. 7.

Prince George RCMP say the vehicle, a grey Pontiac Vibe, was being driven on the 1500 block of Old Cariboo Highway at about 7 p.m. when the vehicle left the road.

Police found the uninjured driver at the scene.

Another person in the vehicle, confirmed by School District 57 to be a student at D.P. Todd Secondary School, died in the crash. The student's name was not released.

“Unfortunately, the single passenger in the vehicle did not survive the incident," states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer with the Prince George RCMP. "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim."

The driver, whose name was not released by police, was accused of impaired driving and arrested. He was later released and will appear in court at a later date.

Investigators are looking for any other witnesses, or for anyone who may have recorded the vehicle and/or the driver's behaviour preceding the incident on their dash camera or video surveillance.

Police ask that anyone with information related to this investigation please call their non-emergency line at 250-561-3300.

The investigation remains ongoing.
