Crime Stoppers contributes to 24 arrests in 2017

The Prince George Crime Stoppers program received 565 tips in 2017, resulting in 24 arrests, according to a press release from the Prince George Crime Stoppers Society.

Tips made by the public to Crime Stoppers resulted in the recovery of $103,000 in property and the seizure of $153,750 in drugs.

In 2017, 15 people who reported tips to Prince George Crime Stoppers received awards for their information worth a total of $2,455.

"The board of directors of Prince George Crime Stoppers Society would like to thank the citizens of Prince George and surrounding areas for continuing to provide vital information that has led to arrests and seizures in 2017," the society said in a statement. "The board would also like to thank the hard working and dedicated members of the RCMP in Prince George and neighbouring communities for continuing to support this worthwhile program."

Members of the Crime Stoppers society will be promoting the program and offering prizes at a UNBC Timberwolves game on Saturday, Prince George Spruce Kings game on Jan. 12 and Prince George Cougars game on Jan. 19.

Crime Stoppers also hosts its annual Spring Shred-It event on April 21, in partnership with Shred-It Mobile Shredding Services, for individuals to shred personal documents by donation.
