Darrell and Gail Wolfe celebrate his 15 years at Gateway Lodge

Wolfe is the last of the initial group of residents to move into the facility

Darrell Wolfe is the last of a special group of residents at Gateway Lodge Long-term Care and he celebrated that status with his wife Gail, staff and other residents Monday.

Wolfe, a quadriplegic following a four-wheeler accident 20 years ago, was one of the first group of people to move into the long-term care building of the Gateway facility after it opened in 2009. Wolfe celebrated his 15th anniversary at Gateway with a surprise party, complete with cake for all, put on by the staff and his wife Gail.

Wolfe's stay in his room on the third floor of the facility has not been without incidents, but he has weathered them all and is able to guide his powered wheelchair throughout the building.

An avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, he is able to take in games and be a part in other activities at Gateway.
