Prince George RCMP dealt with two armed robberies during the past weekend.

Early Friday two masked males entered the Denny's restaurant on Central Street East brandishing a machete and a large kitchen knife.

They stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the till and from a waitress before fleeing in a stolen

pickup truck.

Police, who were on the scene within minutes, were able to locate the two men who are well known to police. Both men face charges of robbery with a weapon, possession of stolen property, possession of a dangerous weapon and using a mask while committing an offence.

Friday evening police were called to Wal-Mart where a man tried to shoplift $129 worth of clothing.

When a staff member confronted the shoplifter on his way out of the store, the suspect pulled out knife, threatened the employee, and then ran from the area.

A police perimeter was set up around the area and dog services were called to the scene.

A dog track soon located the suspect and the stolen items were recovered.

The suspect who was in breach of his probation, is known to police. He faces charges of robbery with a weapon and uttering threats.
