Kellie Young, owner of Niche Clothing & Trading Co., has let Prince George know that she won't reopen the store after it was damaged in an April 9 fire.

A downtown business that has been closed since an April 9 fire will not re-open, its owner announced Tuesday.

The Niche Clothing and Trading Company is located at 1388 5th Ave.

"As many of you know, there was a fire at the back of the store April 9," owner Kellie Young wrote on Facebook. "I have been closed since then. There have been some other factors that led me to the hard decision to permanently close."

The store, which sold natural-fibre clothing and home decor, was started in Jasper before Young moved it to her home town in 2016.

"I'm so grateful for all of you that made The Niche a success and a great community," she wrote on Facebook.

The fire happened after someone lit a fire at the store's back door, then left. The flames spread and caused $150,000 damage.
