There’s no dreary Black Friday in downtown PG. Instead it’s very a Canadian event known as Plaid Friday held in the core of the city on Nov. 24.
“With over 70 shops and special services, 30 cafes and restaurants and so much more, we have nailed creativity and diversity. Plaid Friday is a fun way to encourage Prince George residents and visitors to spend their dollars at our many fabulous downtown businesses, to have some fun wearing plaid and to kick off the holiday shopping and celebrating season," Colleen Van Mook, executive director of Downtown Prince George, said.
There are downtown specials, sales and contests all day and everyone is encouraged to wear plaid while browsing the specials, discounts and prizes available at participating downtown businesses.
The Plaid Patrol will be on the lookout for visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. who can get some cool Downtown PG swag or maybe get some free hot chocolate or given Plaid Bucks to spend at a favourite downtown business.
The Q3 Community Market, 1299 Third Avenue, will be open especially for the occasion from 4 to 8 p.m. for their first indoor night market. Browse the many vendors of local makers and small businesses.
There is also an arts fair at Omineca Arts Centre, 369 Victoria St., from 4 to 8 p.m. This event will showcase intriguing local artists and Indigenous artisans, including the inimitable Dat ́san Cho Bannock offering delicious food until 7 p.m.
