Drivers should keep in mind that Third Avenue, between Dominion Street and Quebec Street, will be closed for the next four Saturdays.
From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 10, 17, 24, and 31 this block of Third Avenue will be closed for vehicular traffic to accommodate the festival, organized by downtown Prince George.
While Downtown Summerfest is still modified due to the coronavirus pandemic, the street is being closed as the area's retailers and restaurants are making the next four Saturdays a little more special to help people celebrate the festival on their own.
Each week has a theme and a corresponding $500 prize.
It starts this Saturday (July 10) when food lovers will be encouraged to check out the patio scene that has popped up at restaurants in the area.
On July 17, stores will be offering special deals and a chance at a $500 shopping spree.
On July 24, dogs and their owners will be welcomed. There will be a "pet portrait" photo booth and 4 Paws Pure will be giving out free dog treats and a change to win $500 in pet goodies.
Then on July 31, cyclists will get some extra attention with the help of a bike valet at Cycle Logic, where volunteers will also be on hand to register bikes in the 529 Garage anti-theft program. The prize for that day is a $500 gift certificate from Cycle Logic.
The farmers' markets will continue to run at 1310 3rd Ave. and at Wilson Square each week.
