An advisory warning of high concentrations of dust in the city's air is in effect.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy in collaboration with Northern Health issued the advisory shortly after 9 a.m. this morning.

"Persons with chronic underlying medical conditions should postpone strenuous exercise near busy roads until the advisory is lifted," officials said.

"If you are experiencing symptoms such as continuing eye or throat irritation, chest dis-comfort, shortness of breath, cough or wheezing, follow the advice of your health care provider."

Children and teenagers are also urged to be cautious.

"Young people are more likely to have asthma and their lungs are still developing."
