Now that opponents of the harmonized sales tax in B.C. have been given the OK to launch a province-wide petition against the tax, a local organizer in Vanderhoof says they will be getting ready to become involved in the initiative in northern B.C.

Now that opponents of the harmonized sales tax in B.C. have been given the OK to launch a province-wide petition against the tax, a local organizer in Vanderhoof says they will be getting ready to become involved in the initiative in northern B.C.

"I am ecstatic," said Mike Summers, a candidate with the B.C. Refederation Party in the last provincial election.

Summers said he has been waiting for the approval of the initiative before notifying contacts in the North interested in taking part in the effort to try to kill the HST. The organizers will have to sign up, and get approval for, canvassers before the initiative start date April 6.
