The final tally is complete and there’s no change in the outcome of the Oct. 19 provincial election.
Kiel Giddens is still the winner in Prince George-Mackenzie.
Elections BC was forced to complete a partial recount when it was discovered that one ballot box containing 861 votes was either not counted or not reported on election night.
The final count, conformed by Elections BC Friday, show Giddens had 11,310 total votes (60.92 per cent), well ahead of second-place NDP candidate Shar McCrory, who had 5,242 votes (28.24 per cent). Green Party candidate James Steidle was next in line with 1,577 (8.49 per cent) and independent Rachael Weber had 435 votes (2.34 per cent).
Justice Ronald S. Tindale of the BC Supreme Court of British Columbia declared Giddens elected Friday afternoon. There is an appeal period before Tindale can certify the Prince George-Mackenzie results, which will expire on Tuesday.
In Surrey-Guildford, Elections BC has determined after a judicial recount that NDP Garry Begg held his slim lead over Conservative Honveer Singh Sahota and has been declared the winner.
Begg got 8,947 votes (46.93 percent) and Sahota ended up with 8,925 (46.81 per cent).
The Surrey-Guildford result guarantees the NDP headed by Premier David Eby will retain a 47-seat majority to form the next government.
The election results in Surrey-Guildford and Kelowna-Centre were automatically subject to a judicial recount because the difference between the top two candidates was less than 1/500th of the total ballots.
The Conservatives, headed by Prince George native John Rustad, with 44 seats, will form the Opposition in the Legislature.
In Kelowna-Centre, the recount confirmed Conservative candidate Kristiana Loewen, with 11,033 votes (42.85 per cent), the winner over NDP candidate Loyal Woodridge, who had 10,993 votes (42.69 per cent).
After 25,747 ballots were cast, Conservative candidate Kristina Loewen was leading by 40 votes over NDP candidate Loyal Wooldridge.
The new MLAs, including Giddens, Rosalyn Bird (Prince George-Valemount) and Sheldon Clare (Prince George-North Cariboo) will be sworn in on Tuesday.
Eby is expected to announce his cabinet on Monday, Nov. 18.
