Fatal morning collision on Highway 16 in Vanderhoof claims two lives

Passenger dead at the scene, driver died of injuries in hospital

Police are hoping to speak with witnesses after the deaths of two people from a single-vehicle crash on Highway 16.

According to RCMP, the incident took place just west of Vanderhoof before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning (Nov. 10) when first responders were called to the scene.

A driver and passenger were found inside the vehicle after it was found overturned in a creek.

The passenger was declared dead at the scene, while the driver later died of his injuries after they were removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital.

Factors that led to the crash are being investigated by Mounties.

It's being reported that the roads, at the time, were snow-covered and slippery.
