A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for the family whose home was destroyed in a fire on Monday evening.
Jason and Amanda 'Dani' Wiebe, their three children Kayleigh, Seth and Michah, and the family's two dogs safely escaped the fire, but their home on Notre Dame Drive was destroyed. Their neighbour, Stephanie Loro, organized the fundraising campaign which had already raised more than $12,750 for the family as of Tuesday morning.
Loro said the family is currently staying with family members while they try to regroup. She is collecting donations of clothes, housewares and toys and other items for the children. People who have items to donate can contact Loro through GoFundMe.
A list of clothing sizes for the family members is available on the GoFundMe fundraiser page.
"We are completely blown away. Thank you all so incredibly much," Dani Wiebe said in a comment on the page. "Two of our kids are autistic as well. This has been an overwhelming experience for all of us. We are so appreciative, grateful, and blessed by all of you."
Prince George Fire Rescue crews were called to their home around 4 p.m. on Monday.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to begin tomorrow, if the weather allows, Prince George Fire Rescue Service deputy chief Bryan Burleigh said on Tuesday.
