Winter is coming (sadly), but you can always find a delicious bowl of soup to warm you up

It's that time of year again where soup will be one of your favourite meals. (via ponce_photography)

Old Man Winter is on his way.

You might be ecstatic. Others, not so much.

No matter what your feelings toward winter are, you will be cold, so here are the top five places in town to warm up with a hot bowl of soup:

The Salted Cracker

The Salted Cracker opened its doors in Prince George in December of 2014 when staff realized there was a need for a quality soup-and-sandwich establishment. Since then, three more locations have opened, to cover all four corners of the city.

They serve four everyday soups as well as four more soups that are rotated daily. The soups are prepared by head chef Jordan Reinitz and the rest of the kitchen crew.

They serve classics like chicken noodle, cream of tomato and broccoli. Soups come in three sizes: small, medium and large. You can also order it to-go.

The menu also has numerous grilled cheese options such as chicken cordon blue (can you say yum?), Reuben, turkey bacon and Mediterranean mozza pesto, to name a few.

You can find them at:

  • The Salted Cracker #1 - 1485 10th Ave.
  • The Salted Cracker #2 - 3714 Austin Rd. W
  • The Salted Cracker #3 - #160-5212 Domano Blvd.
  • The Salted Cracker #4 - 3337 Eight Ave.

Zoe's Java House

While we missed adding them to the top five coffee shops in our previous Five for Friday, we'll add them now!

Zoe's Java House has a variety of soups for those looking to escape the cold and heat up.

Of course, they are well known for their coffee and pastries, but they aren't a one-trick pony.

You can find them at 1259 Fourth Ave.

Pho U & Me

We don't know about you, but we would visit this restaurant just by its name.

Pho is a great soup to warm yourself up with, but it also is known to be beneficial when you're sick (a win-win situation).

The soup typically consists of broth, rice noodles and meat, primarily beef or chicken.

Pho U & Me is located at 1667 15th Ave.

Dragon Stone

You may know Dragon Stone for its all-you-can-eat Mongolian grill-style stirfry, but did you know you can also make soup?

The advantage here is, you get to create your own. You get to pick the vegetables, meats, noodles, sauce and broth.

You can find Dragon Stone at 110-3040 Recplace Dr.

Thanh Vu Restaurant

Spring rolls, beef noodle soup, wonton soup, Vietnamese-style duck soup — your taste buds will love you!

This is another restaurant that you can warm up your freezing limbs with.

They also have warm chicken, beef and vegetarian non-soup options.

You can visit them at 1778 Highway 97 South.

Now if you'll excuse us, we're going to get some soup.
