You'll now see a pop of colour on the YXS runway as Flair Airlines will be taking off out of Prince George to two destinations.

The airline, which has a lime-green stripe on its planes, has announced it will fly direct to Vancouver and Edmonton.

“We continuously receive requests from our passengers to service these communities,” Flair Airlines CEO Jim Scott said in a release.

“Many of these areas are experiencing reduced accessibility, and we know that Canadians need affordable air fares now more than ever. We are committed to supporting these communities across the country as they safely reopen to travel.”

The announcement comes amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which the company added it will have thorough screening protocols.

"Passengers who choose to travel can expect to complete a visual mask check, answer a health check questionnaire, and have their temperature taken prior to boarding the aircraft," the release adds.

"Enhanced aircraft disinfecting measures and the use of HEPA filters will remain in effect for the foreseeable future. HEPA filters remove 99.99 per cent of particles, including viruses, and circulate fresh air into the cabins every two to three minutes."

The flight schedules for Prince George are as follows:

PRINCE GEORGE - VANCOUVER

  • Vancouver to Prince George - Fridays and Mondays
  • Prince George to Vancouver - Thursdays and Sundays

PRINCE GEORGE - EDMONTON

  • Edmonton to Prince George - Thursdays and Sundays
  • Prince George to Edmonton - Fridays and Mondays

As per the company's website, service between Vancouver and Prince George is available for booking on Aug. 24, while Edmonton to Prince George is available as of Aug. 23 but service out of YXS to Edmonton is listed available as early as Sept. 21.

Flair Airlines offers base fares at low cost. Customers then select additional options at a cost including selecting their seats (prices depend on seat locations in aircraft), checked baggage and carry on baggage.
