Outgoing Initiatives Prince George CEO Heather Oland has found a new home.
On Thursday, it was announced that Oland would take over as general manager of the city's Ramada hotel as of Sept. 28.
Oland will be responsible for overall operations of the hotel and all of the food and beverage retail outlets inside the George Street location.
"I am delighted to join the leadership team at the Ramada Plaza Prince George," said Oland, in a press release.
"The Ramada is embarking on a very exciting path of business development and growth and I am so pleased to have the opportunity to work with Days Hospitality Inc. and the talented staff as we move the property to its full potential and beyond."
Oland is well positioned for the role, thanks to her "senior leadership experience, business acumen, employee development expertise as well as her deep knowledge of the regional economic climate and business community," said Days Hospitality vice president Mary Jane Hannah and a former general manager of the Ramada Plaza Prince George.
In June, the city announced it was shutting down IPG and that economic development activities would be brought into city hall as of Jan. 1. Oland was offered a job with the city, but turned it down. The posting for a new economic development manager - who will report to the general manager of planning and development - closed on Aug. 16.
City manager Kathleen Soltis was named as the IPG's sole director at the end of July, following the mass resignation of the volunteer board of directors.
At the time, Soltis told city council that senior management were planning to "have very close communication, with Heather in particular, during the next set of months."
As of the end of August, the planned economic development committee, struck in mid June to plan the in-house economic development function, had not materialized. The committee was mandated to make its final report to council by the end of the month.
