A well-known, former Prince George high-school teacher and sports coach has been sentenced after pleading guilty to a gross-indecency act that happened in the 1980s.

Kim Randall Koehn was charged on April 17, 2020, with a single count of gross-indecency contrary to s. 157 of the Criminal Code.

Yesterday (March 16), Koehn was sentenced to three years of probation after pleading guilty on Oct. 19, 2020.

For the first 12 months, house arrest terms were ordered. Koehn was also placed on the national sex offender registry for 20 years.

BC Prosecution Service spokesperson Dan McLaughlin told PrinceGeorgeMatters in October of 2020 the incident happened at or near Prince George on Sept. 1, 1984, and Aug. 31, 1985, which was the same time period Koehn was employed in the local education system.

A School District 57 (SD57) official confirmed that Koehn taught in the 1980s at Kelly Road Secondary School, now renamed to Shas Ti-Kelly Road Secondary.
