BC Transit is offering free transit rides in Prince George on June 5.

Transit will be free to ride on Wednesday, June 5 as BC Transit and the City of Prince George mark Clean Air Day.

The goal is to encourage people to ride the bus rather than drive as part of efforts to improve air quality.

Local handyDART customers will ride for free as well.

Riders can use the Umo app, Transit app, Google Transit or any other real-time trip planning app to see trip times and plan their journeys.

For more information on schedules, trip planning and to sign up for customer alerts please visit bctransit.com/prince-george.

The Government of Canada declared Clean Air Day in 1999 as part of Canadian Environment Week to raise awareness about air quality and climate change. The aim is also to inspire people to consider changing habits in an effort to decrease their individual greenhouse gas emissions.
