Prince George’s up-and-coming female basketball stars will still be able to develop their skills during the COVID-19 pandemic in a safe manner.
The UNBC women’s basketball team is scheduled to host its 2020 Junior Timberwolves Fall Academy starting this Sunday (Sept. 13).
It’s set to run for 10 consecutive weeks and the primary focus this year is on fundamental skill development for each player that signs up.
In a normal year, the Junior T-Wolves would travel for tournaments to compete against other programs, but current COVID-19 restrictions and return-to-sport guidelines are only allowing extended training sessions until further notice.
“This development program is intended to provide high level coaching and training for those serious about improving their game and learning to train in a competitive environment,” the Fall Academy’s description reads.
“There will also be time spent on agility and motor skills training to improve overall athletic abilities as well as team play concepts.”
The camp will take place at the Northern Sport Centre, is open to girls in Grades 8 to 12 and will run every Sunday from 12 to 3 p.m.
