An early morning gas station robbery last month has led to a two-year jail term for a Prince George man.

Christopher Ryan Russell, 23, was also sentenced to three months in jail for breach of probation and issued a 10-year firearms prohibition when sentenced in provincial court on Wednesday for the Feb. 17 robbery of the Central Street West Mohawk.

Russell was arrested about an hour after police responded shortly after 5 a.m. to a call of a lone male wearing dark clothing and brandishing a sharp edge knife making off with a small amount of cash.

Through the use of surveillance cameras and other leads, police tracked Russell down to a home in the 3600 block of Fifth Avenue.
