Jian Ghomeshi's appearance in Prince George has now been rescheduled.

The host of CBC Radio One's flagship morning program Q (and its Q TV internet version) was originally supposed to be in Prince George for a solo speaking engagement in late September but had to defer due to the critical illness of his father, who passed away soon after.

Ghomeshi was clear with engagement organizers at Citizen Special Events that he was not cancelling, only postponing his arrival until after the family emergency. The new date selected for his address is Nov. 7 at the Prince George Civic Centre at 7 p.m.

Mixing unscripted wit, critical opinions and experiences from his storied career of high-profile interviews, Ghomeshi will share his thoughts on the challenges and opportunities presented today.

He has interviewed prime ministers, sports figures and cultural icons including Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Barbara Walters, Al Gore and Leonard Cohen.

Ghomeshi took home the Best Talk Show Host prize in 2012 from the New York Festival and his exclusive sit-down with Cohen earned him the festival's gold medal for Talk Show Interview of the year in 2010.

When it comes to music, Ghomeshi isn't on the outside looking in. He first made headlines as a member of folk-rock group Moxy Fruvous, with whom he toured internationally in the 1990s. The singer, songwriter and musician continues to write and produce, manage other acts and be involved with other arts groups such as the National Ballet, Canadian Opera Company and Radio Starmaker Fund.

He released his first book, a memoir entitled 1982, in September 2012. It debuted as a No. 1 Canadian bestseller.

Previously purchased tickets will be honoured for this new event date, and tickets ($40 each) are still available at the Prince George Citizen office or from the eventbrite.com website. For more information call 250-640-6670.
