VIDEO: Giscome Elementary School, east of Prince George, evacuated after CN train derailment

Students are being evacuated to Willow River Church

1:05 p.m.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has announced it's deploying a team of investigators to the derailment east of Prince George. 

A release says they will gather information and assess the occurrence.

Access to the area of the incident is limited.

12:05 p.m.

CN Rail has sent the following statement to PrinceGeorgeMatters: 

"CN crews are responding to a derailment involving approximately 20 railcars in Giscome, BC (near Prince George). There is no danger to public safety as there are no fires, injuries or leaks of product."

"The cause of the incident under investigation. CN apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this incident."

10:55 a.m.

Giscome Elementary School has been evacuated after a nearby CN train derailment.

Students were transported by staff to their designated evacuation site at Willow River Church. 

School District No. 57 says parents are being notified of the evacuation and are able to either pick up their children from Willow River Church or have them transported to Blackburn Elementary School for the remainder of the day.
