COVID-19 put a damper on Prince George’s summer earlier this year, but on May 1, several parks had reopened to allow residents to go outdoors at a safe distance.
Now that they were able to enjoy what the season had offered during an unprecedented time, the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) is needing the public’s help once again to give feedback about those parks.
The organization is conducting a month-long online survey asking for direction on its 11 regional parks in hopes of developing a 10-year plan that identifies upgrades and priorities.
“We need input from our residents to help to create a plan that reflects our communities’ needs and aspirations for regional parks, trails, and outdoor recreation areas,” says RDFFG General Manager of Environmental Services Petra Wildauer in a news release of its Regional Parks Plan.
The plan encompasses 330 hectares of parks within the north-central region:
- Berman Lake
- Cedarside Park
- Harold Mann Park
- George Hicks
- Giscome Portage (also known as Huble Homestead)
- John Dahl Park
- Koeneman Park
- Kristian Winther Park
- McMillan Creek
- Ness Lake
- Wilkins Park
All of the above parks are open for day-use only, the RDFFG explains, and offer several amenities for residents like picnic tables, fire pits, beaches and restrooms.
You can take part in the parks’ online survey by visiting the RDFFG’s website from now until Sept. 30.
