The Governor General will help close out the Canada Winter Games.
David Johnston will attend the final day of competition on March 1, to watch the men's gold-medal hockey game and present the final prize to the winning team.
Later in the afternoon, Johnston will participate in the closing ceremonies, held at University of Northern B.C.
"As we begin the Year of Sport, I am looking forward to celebrating the efforts, accomplishments and sportsmanship of athletes and volunteers at the 2015 Canada Winter Games," Johnston said, in a press release, adding he was "eager to meet the residents of northern British Columbia."
On March 2, the Governor General will participate in a panel discussion with UNBC president Daniel Weeks and Mayor Lyn Hall at the P.G. Playhouse. The event, starting at 10:30 a.m., will be moderated by UNBC political science professor Tracy Summerville and will focus on potential results from universities and cities working together.
