Hart flushing could result in cloudy water: City of Prince George

Water will still be safe to drink as crews will tend to pipes in August

Starting Tuesday (Aug. 6), the City of Prince George will begin flushing several watermains in the Hart region in order to keep its high-quality levels.

However, the task could result in cloudy water and a drop in pressure in local homes for a few hours each day until the end of the month as crews conduct their operations.

“Although the water is safe to drink, the project may stir up iron deposits in the watermains,” the city says in a statement. “So residents may wish to store some water for drinking and avoid doing laundry from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. while the system is being flushed to reduce the risk of laundry discolouration.”

This is part of Prince George’s on-going water system program that takes place every summer, ensuring residents that they’ll have access to the best water possible, drinking or otherwise.

Crews will be on the ground from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

More information is available on the city’s website.
