And you better check it twice, because there are a lot of things happening in Prince George this December. So pull out your calendars and get planning.
There’s no time like the present!
What is it: The lighting of the Canadian Tire Tree of Lights and a stellar fireworks display featuring live entertainment, music, dancing, activities, holiday treats, and hay rides.
Where is it: Canada Games Plaza (next to the Prince George Civic Centre)
When is it: Nov. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Christmas Time is Here at Art Knapp Plant Land
What is it: Art Knapp is kicking off the holiday season with a special event. They will be making outdoor urns and swag, to help get your home ready for the holidays, and serving some fun treats.
Where is it: Art Knapp Plant Land (4411 Kimball Rd.)
When is it: Nov. 30 from 6 to 9 p.m.
What is it: A fundraising event put on by the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation every year just before Christmas. Check out the live entertainment, and walk among the beautifully decorated trees, or place a bid in the silent auction.
Where is it: The Prince George Civic and Conference Centre (808 Canada Games Way)
When is it: Nov. 23 to Dec. 2
Two Rivers Gallery Artisans Fair
What is it: It's the 11th annual Artisans’ Fair at Two Rivers Gallery! Artisans' Fair features an array of professional local artisans selling work brought directly from their studios and workshops. The event is free to the public and a great opportunity to find unique gifts and goodies while supporting the local economy and creativity in Prince George.
Where is it: Two Rivers Gallery (725 Canada Games Way)
When is it: Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A choral reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas
What is it: Richard Bjarnason will be joining Nove Voce to read the original story as the choir performs songs from the cartoon and movie. You will hear favourite Grinch songs like You’re a Mean One Mister Grinch, Where are you Christmas and Welcome Christmas. The show is a half-hour long so it is perfect for audiences of all ages. Tickets are $5 at the door.
Where is it: Prince George Civic Center in Room 208
When is it: There will be five show times on Dec 1, at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
What is it: Omineca's last Holiday Market featured pottery, copper jewelry, woodwork, Tahltan cookbooks, vintage clothing, felted art, handmade soaps and more. Artisans are invited to come forward with their most imaginative and innovative giftware.
Where is it: 369 Victoria St., between Margo's Cafe and Exit Gaming Room
When is it: Dec. 7 from 5 to 11:30 p.m.
Old-fashioned Victorian Christmas in Barkerville
What is it: Enjoy sleigh rides, warm refreshments, delicious home baking in the Wendle House, decorated displays, shopping, caroling and other seasonal activities in Victorian Barkerville!
Where is it: Barkerville (14301 Hwy 26 E.)
When is it: Dec. 8 to 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
Prince George Christmas Wish Breakfast
What is it: Bring an unwrapped gift to support families in need over the festive season and enjoy a wonderful breakfast with Santa. Entertainment throughout the morning brought to you by Judy Russell Entertainment.
Where is it: Prince George Kin Centre Complex (2187 Ospika Blvd. S)
When is it: Dec. 11 from 6 to 10 a.m.
A Christmas Carol at the PG Play House
What is it: Bring your family and friends to watch the classic Charles Dickens: A Christmas Carol, presented by Judy Russell at the PG Playhouse.
Where is it: PG Play House (2833 Recreation Pl.)
When is it: First showing is on Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. but you can view the full schedule here. The last showing takes place Dec. 22.
Cirque Musica Holiday presents Wonderland
What is it: Wonderland is a fun-filled experience for the whole family featuring the talented cast of Cirque Musica, accompanied by a live symphony orchestra playing the greatest holiday music of all time.
Where is it: CN Centre (100-2187 Ospika Blvd. S)
When is it: Dec. 15 from 7:30 to 10 p.m.
What is it: Last big craft fair before Christmas featuring over 100 vendors (crafters, bakers, home-based businesses and much more). Free admission, child area and raffle draw!
Where is it: Prince George Civic Centre (808 Canada Games Way)
When is it: Dec 15. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
What is it: Santa and Mrs. Claus bring their merry elves to Otway for a visit to Santa’s cabin. The snowy trails along Pine Flats are lit for visitors to ski, snowshoe or walk to the old biathlon cabin. Hot apple cider and cookies will be served at the cabin while you wait your turn to sit on Santa’s knee. Caroling is encouraged while you wait!

When is it: Dec. 16 from 3 to 6 p.m.
