Young Prince George athletes are looking forward to some sort of physical activity in the months ahead even as COVID-19 continues in B.C.
While the province remains in Phase Three of its restart plan, which restricts sports to extended training programs, local organizations are getting ready to bring kids back to the ice, court and field as early as Monday (Aug. 17).
That date is when the city is reopening the Kin Arenas, which was voted unanimously by city council on July 27 to be the only public ice facility to stay open, but with enhanced cleaning and sanitization, and limiting capacity to reduce any further spread of the virus.
That brought good news for local winter sports organizations who were hoping to put on summer camps for athletes as they still wait for any improvements in the pandemic that could push towards gameplay later this year.
Until such a time, skill development will be the main focus.
