Here’s when you can buy tickets to see the Prince George Spruce Kings in Doyle Cup action

‘Kings guaranteed to host two games in regional championship series with Brooks

The Prince George Spruce Kings have already punched their ticket to the 2019 National Junior ‘A’ Hockey Championship next month.

But first, they have some business to attend to in playing for the regional title, known as the Doyle Cup, against the Brooks Bandits, the national tournament hosts and Alberta Junior League champions.

The best-of-seven series will start in our neighbouring province this Friday (April 26) and Saturday (April 27), but regardless of how the first two games turn out, there will be at least two games in Prince George at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA).

Tickets are going on sale tomorrow (April 23), 10 a.m. at the RMCA box office and online via the Spruce Kings’ website.

Those two games will be next week and, as to which specific days those will be, here are the scenarios:

If either team sweeps the first two games in Brooks …

  • Game Three = Tuesday, April 30, 7 p.m. @ RMCA
  • Game Four = Wednesday, May 1, 7 p.m. @ RMCA

If the series is split 1-1 after the two games in Brooks …

  • Game Three = Sunday, April 28 in Brooks
  • Game Four = Wednesday, May 1, 7 p.m. @ RMCA
  • Game Five = Thursday, May 2, 7 p.m. @ RMCA

The remaining contests in each scenario, swept or split, will be played in B.C.’s northern capital.

The Spruce Kings have only seen two sold-out crowds during the post-season this year, coming in Games One and Two of the Fred Page Cup Finals against Vernon, when 2,112 people packed the barn each night.

The last possible appearance on home ice of the 2018-19 season for Prince George, if the Doyle Cup goes to seven games, is set for Sunday, May 5.

The full schedule is available on the Brooks Bandits’ website.
