Crowds at Kin 1 that annual flock to the Canadian Home Builders Association Northern BC Home & Garden Show won't get that opportunity this year. The April event has been canceled due to the conronavirus pandemic.

The coronavirus outbreak has forced organizers of the 43rd annual Northern BC Home & Garden Show to cancel the event, scheduled for April 24-26 at the Kin Centre.

The home show is a popular draw and organizers recognized crowds would have exceeded the provincial restriction which limits the size of any public gathering to 250 people.

“We are mindful that the COVID-19 declared pandemic is fluid and subject to daily if not hourly updates; our primary responsibility is to contribute to the health and well-being of communities in our region,” said Jody Tindill, president of the Canadian Home Builders' Association of Northern BC, who announced the decision of the group “with heavy hearts.”

“We want to ensure that vendors, event partners and service providers are provided with as much notice as possible so that they are able to adjust their possible travel and staffing plans and perhaps revisit planned revenue and expense budgets with the absence of the annual home show,” Tindill said. “There is a financial impact to the association with the absence of the home show.”

Tindill said the dates of the 2021 home show will be announced shortly.
