On Jan. 30, Fort Nelson RCMP members were called to assist the BC Ambulance Service with a woman in distress. Police attended and located a woman inside a residence at the Fort Nelson First Nation. Fire and ambulance personnel also attended and confirmed that the woman, 22-year-old Jeaniel Berreault was deceased.
A male subject, who called BC Ambulance, was also inside the residence and identified as, Michael (also known as Emerson) Capot-Blanc, common-law partner of the deceased. An investigation has resulted in a charge of second degree murder against Capot-Blanc who is in custody pending his next court appearance in March.
Anyone with information regarding this homicide or who had contact with either Berreault or Capot-Blanc on Jan. 30 is asked to call Fort Nelson RCMP at 250-774-2700.
