The Prince George Humane Society’s ‘Home For The Holidays Program’ has been running since its founding and this year it's been especially busy.
“The program has been going since we've been in existence and most animals don't come back after Christmas so it's been a successful program,” explained founder and executive director Angela McLaren. “It's an opportunity for us to increase our adoption rates through fostering over the season. I think it's great because people get time to spend time with that animal, get to know them and bond during the Christmas season. We are wrapping it up on Saturday, but people are welcome to give us a call and see what we still have available for fostering.”
There are a total of 10 cats left, and with two days left in the program, there is still an opportunity to help a new feline friend find a forever home.
If your house is already full of furry friends there are still tons of ways to help out this holiday season.
“Monetary donations are great and we can use them towards helping the animals,” said McLaren. “If you visit our website or Facebook you can just see our wish lists of items that we would love people to consider donating. Volunteering is also a way of giving back to the organization, People can do an authentication online at pghumanesociety.ca. Long-term fostering is another one of those ways to help. Our capacity limit is based on how many fosters we have to help us, and to help as many animals as we can, we encourage people to foster.”
The Humane Society would also like to thank all the fosters, volunteers, adopters, supporters, donors and everyone who's contributed during the year.
