The Insurance Corp. of British Columbia has set up an online database for people to check to see if they're owed money by the insurer.

The Insurance Corp. of British Columbia (ICBC) has established a process to claim any missed or unclaimed funds.

Under the terms of the Unclaimed Property Act, ICBC maintains a database for funds that:

  • Have been returned to ICBC undelivered
  • Have remained uncashed for a specified period
  • Are greater than or equal to $50
  • Were issued on July 1, 2000, or later

This means you may have unclaimed funds just waiting to be claimed.

The ICBC website currently has a search function that allows you to check if the company owes you any funds.

However, ICBC cannot confirm your identity by phone or email, so you must submit your request by mail to the following address:

ICBC – Unclaimed Funds
151 West Esplanade, Room 152B
North Vancouver, BC V7M 3H9

You can also claim these funds on behalf of another person or an organization if you have the legal authority to do so, ICBC advises.

If you're wondering whether there may be an ICBC cheque with your name on it, visit www.icbc.com/unclaimed-funds.
