The village's only bank closed earlier this year, leaving a gap

Prince George-based Integris Credit Union will open a branch in McBride in February.

Residents of McBride and the Robson Valley have been lacking a bank or other similar dedicated financial service since the village's only bank, a Scotiabank branch, closed this fall.

This has been causing frustration in McBride and the surrounding area as residents must travel long distances to access essential financial services.

However, this won't be a problem for much longer, as Integris Credit Union has announced a physical location at 210 Main St. This location will be available to the public with a soft opening in early February.

Integris, which has 27,000 members, has already been a presence in McBride as it has an insurance branch across the street from the soon-to-be-open credit union. The company itself is a financial co-operative with $1.8 billion in assets that has been offering banking, insurance and financial planning to residents in north-central BC for over half a century.

Integris is currently training three new representatives who will be able to assist customers with:

  • Account opening
  • Cash and deposit services
  • Investments (ie. term deposits, GICs, RRSP/RESP/TFSA, etc.)
  • Home, auto and personal loans
  • Online banking support
  • ATM
  • Night deposit

The hours for the new McBride branch will be Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
