Due to the extreme wildfire season throughout BC this summer and near Prince George, Canfor's Isle Pierre sawmill has been temporarily shut down.

In an email statement, Michelle Ward, Director of Corporate Communications with Canfor says the decision was made last Friday morning.

"Due to the extreme fire weather in North Central BC, the vast majority of harvesting activities had been halted in the region west of Prince George. As a result, the log inventory at Isle Pierre Sawmill was depleted," she says.

Operations were officially suspended on Sept. 4 but harvesting activities resumed this week.

The company says they are optimistic that operations will resume on Sept. 10 and will continue to monitor the wildfire situation.

The sawmill offers SPF dimension lumber and studs.
