Fill the Bin welcomes donations of items for families and individuals this holiday season.

The City of Prince George is once again inviting the community to spread holiday cheer and make a difference by participating in the annual Fill the Bin winter donation drive. Now in its second year, the event officially launched on Monday, Nov. 25 and will run until Friday, Dec. 20.

This year, the city has partnered with several local non-profits to collect essential items for individuals and families in need.

Donations will benefit the Association Advocating for Women and Community (AWAC), the Elizabeth Fry Society Young Parent Program, the Prince George Humane Society, and the Salvation Army Prince George.

Items being collected include winter apparel, non-perishable food, pet supplies, and items for new parents.

Needed items:

  • Winter apparel (coats, jackets, mittens, socks, boots, scarves, snow pants) – new or gently used
  • Non-perishable food (canned goods, pasta, rice, pantry staples)
  • Pet supplies (bedding, toys, food, collars, leashes, bowls, towels)
  • Items for new parents (diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, baby gear, toys, books, feeding tools)

Drop-off locations across the city include:

  • Books and Company (1685 3rd Ave.)
  • Bosley’s (2482 Ferry Ave. or 100 Tabor Blvd.)
  • Cap-Abilities (1313 1st Ave.)
  • City Hall (1100 Patricia Blvd.)
  • Homespun Refillery (3110 15th Ave.)
  • Paw Street Market (5079 Domano Blvd.)
  • Prince George Aquatic Centre (1770 George Paul Lane)
  • Save on Foods (College Heights, 5232 Domano Blvd.; Hart, 3885 West Austin Rd.)
  • Starbucks at the Ramada (444 George St.)
  • Total Pet (1915 Victoria St.)

Last year, the community came together to donate over two truckloads of winter gear and food, supporting local families and individuals. This year, organizers aim to surpass that achievement and continue to make a significant impact during the holiday season.

“We are proud to partner with these incredible organizations and are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community," says outreach co-ordinator Danielle Trudeau, who is leading the drive alongside the city’s bylaw department. "Every donation makes a difference, and we hope to see the bins filled to overflowing once again this year.”
