The Prince George Cougars will be without one of its tenured players for the next little while.
Jackson Leppard has been added to the injured reserve and is expected to be out for the next one to two weeks with what is being called a lower-body injury.
The 19-year-old didn’t suit up in the Cats’ second game of their doubleheader in Victoria this past weekend.
Leppard also didn’t leave Friday’s match (Sept. 27) until he was called for a slashing penalty with 19 seconds left in regulation at the same time Royals defenceman Mitch Prowse was sent to the box for cross-checking.
There are no other details on the North Vancouver product’s injury at this time, but if the timeline is correct, he could be back in the line-up in time for one or both of this weekend’s games against Kelowna.

Leppard hasn’t registered a point for Prince George in the 2019-20 season yet, but he has been critical in the face-off circle.
So far, he’s 63 per cent at the dots going 19 for 30 in three games.
Leppard now joins Cole Moberg and Ilijah Colina on the injured list for now.
Their injuries were upper-body related with Moberg out for another one to two weeks and Colina sidelined for up to three weeks.
The Cougars host the Rockets Friday (Oct. 4) and Saturday (Oct. 5) at the CN Centre with 7 p.m. starts both nights.
Through the first four games, Prince George is the only team in the Western Hockey League without a win, currently holding a 0-3-0-1 record.
