There were multiple up and downs in the Prince George economy in Jan. 2019 compared to 2018.
The unemployment rate in the city dropped one per cent lower last month; in 2018, the recorded rate was six per cent.
Employment in the Transportation and Warehouse industry increased by 400 jobs, while construction also saw an increase of 300 jobs.
Public administration saw a loss of 400 jobs and Information, Culture, and Recreation dropped 300 jobs.
The employment rate for Prince George in Jan. 2018 was 68 per cent, while last month the number was recorded at 62.9 per cent.
The number of houses sold this past January was 41 with an average house sale price of $359,666; last year, 49 houses were sold with an average selling tag of $363,719.
Building permits also saw a decline in Jan. 2019 compared to Jan. 2018:
