John Hart Bridge southbound lane closures and other traffic disruptions

A whole host of traffic disruptions in Prince George will be ongoing so that upgrades and repairs can be made to the city’s infrastructure.

Signs are up warning commuters of the John Hart Bridge closure and directing traffic to alternative routes. The bridge's southbound lanes will be affected to allow crews to install a new sanitary forcemain.

Posted on the City of Prince George website is a whole host of traffic disruptions that will be ongoing while upgrades and repairs can be made to the city’s infrastructure.

The top couple of items should be of note as southbound lanes of the John Hart Bridge will be closed, with detours in place for most of October.

Here is the list:

John Hart Bridge – Southbound lanes

  • Will be single lane, 24 hours, until Tuesday, Oct. 8 for the installation of a new sanitary forcemain.
  • Emergency vehicles WILL have access.

 John Hart Bridge – Southbound lanes

  • Will be closed, 24 hours, Wednesday, Oct. 9 until Thursday, Oct. 24 for the installation of a new sanitary forcemain.
  • Detours will be in place.
  • Emergency vehicles will NOT have access.

Larch Street between Connaught Drive and 20th Ave

  • Will be one lane, Saturday, Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for sanitary relining.
  • Emergency vehicles WILL have access.

 Athlone Avenue between Vanier Drive and Westwood Drive

  • Will have minor traffic disruptions, Saturday, Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for sanitary relining.
  • Emergency vehicles WILL have access.

Ospika Boulevard between McDermid Drive and Ayr Place

  • The northbound lane remains closed until Monday, Oct. 7 for the installation of a new water main.
  • Detours will be in place.
  • Emergency vehicles WILL have access.

 2nd Avenue/Crossing Street between Victoria Street and Vancouver Street

  • The left, westbound lane & sidewalk, will be closed until Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for the replacement of the sidewalk.
  • Emergency vehicles WILL have access.

Hammond Avenue Alleyway between Kelly Street and Hammond Avenue

  • Will be intermittently closed until Thursday, Oct. 31 for the installation of a new sanitary forcemain.
  • Emergency vehicles will NOT have access. 

Hart Highway Frontage Road between Austin Road and Turner Road trail

  • Will experience closures until Friday, Nov. 15 for the installation of a new storm sewer main and manholes.
  • Detours will be in place.
  • Emergency vehicles WILL have access.

 Quebec Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue & 3rd Avenue between Quebec Street and Dominion Street

  • Will be closed every Saturday until Oct. 26 from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the Prince George Farmers’ Market
  • Detours required.
  • Emergency vehicles will NOT have access.
