When there's Junk in the Truck and the goal is to lighten the load, get down to the CN Centre parking lot Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the greatest way to recycle items during the REAPS giant garage sale.

People are invited to register with REAPS to sell unwanted items out of the trunk of their car for a $10 donation to the non-profit organization that teaches the community how to reduce, reuse and recycle.

That $10 donation gets participants two spaces in the lot. One to park the car and one behind the car to set up tables, tents and chairs to sell their wares during this rain-or-shine event.

So far, there are 85 people registered with room enough to comfortably fit 120, so spots are filling up fast.

"There's plenty of Junk in the Trunk with that many people already registered," said Terri McClymont, executive director of REAPS who is collaborating with the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George for the event that's drawing participants from as far away as Fraser Lake and Vanderhoof.

This popular community garage sale has been held twice a year since October 2012, so this makes it the eighth time REAPS has held the Junk in the Trunk Sale.

The plan is to sell whatever participants can from 9 a.m. on and then at about 12:45 p.m. AiMHi will be on hand to accept donations from those wishing to dispose of their unwanted items in a green-friendly manner.

Cadets will be selling hot dogs and there will be a lemonade stand on site to keep everyone well fed and hydrated.

"Don't forget one man's junk is another man's treasure," said McClymont.
