A man well known to the police and courts is back in custody following an alleged failed attempt to evade Prince George RCMP.
Hayden Lee Alwood, 28, was apprehended on Thursday afternoon. Wanted on an arrest warrant, Alwood was driving a large pickup truck that police said was uninsured and bearing a licence plate from another vehicle, when he refused to stop during an attempted pullover near Hammond Avenue and Lyon Street.
Instead, Alwood took off at a high rate of speed and police opted against following the vehicle. But several minutes later, RCMP were called to the scene of a collision between the pickup and a cube truck near the 4100-block of First Avenue.
Police said Alwood fled on foot and left two passengers behind. But RCMP caught up to him and took him into custody.
RCMP said a loaded firearm and ammunition were found in the truck and a search of Alwood uncovered a quantity of what police suspect is cocaine.
