Lheidli T'enneh breaks ground on wastewater treatment facility

The First Nation is building a new plant to service the north side of the reserve

Lheidli T'enneh First Nation broke ground on a new wastewater treatment facility to service the north side of reserve lands Friday.

The treatment plant, to be located on Landooz Road, has been in the works since 2020, when work began on feasibility studies and to secure funding for the project.

"Our council is pleased to see this project come to fruition for our community and members. The process began almost five years ago, and today, along with council and our administrative team, we get to officially kick of and commence the construction phase," stated chief Dolleen Logan.

Twin Rivers Development was awarded the $6 million contract in May after it went to tender. It should be done by late 2024 or early 2025.
