The College of New Caledonia is alerting people they could have come in contact with an illness earlier in the school year.
President Henry Reiser says Northern Health alerted the school that one person was diagnosed with active tuberculosis and a "limited number of individuals" could have been exposed between September 2018 and January 2019.
"The health, safety, and privacy of employees and students is CNC’s top priority," Reiser said in an email.
He adds Northern Health’s Medical Health Officer Dr. Andrew Gray assures that, for the vast majority of students and staff at CNC, the risk is extremely low, and testing is not necessary.
"Over the next week, however, health care staff from Northern Health will contact directly by telephone only those individuals who may have been exposed to arrange testing for tuberculosis infection," the email adds.
