A total of 16 members of the Prince George RCMP detachment have been deployed to Toronto to help with security for the G8 and G20 summits.
The members will do a variety of duties involving security around the visit of the global leaders,said RCMP Cst. Lesley Smith, media communications officer.
The G8 summit today and Saturday in Huntsville, Ont. involves the leaders of the eight top industrialized countries of Canada, U.S. Russia, Japan, Germany, France, Italy and United Kingdom.
The G20 summit, involving a larger group of world leaders, follows Saturday and Sunday in Toronto.
