A Prince George woman known to the police and courts is in custody after Clearwater RCMP conducting wildfire-area patrols on Highway 5 allegedly found two handguns in the vehicle she was driving.
Eleven charges have been approved against Angeline Hammerstrom, 37, and eight against Tristan Paul Olson, 19, of Kamloops.
South East District RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said the two were arrested Monday morning when an officer immediately identified Hammerstrom as a prolific offender.
He said Olson gave a false name and upon being placed under arrest, "bolted from police running down the highway dodging in and out of traffic."
After a short foot chase, Olson was apprehended.
A loaded 357 Magnum revolver and a 25 Calibre Colt handgun were found in the vehicle and other weapons and drugs were found on Olson, Moskaluk said.
Counts against Hammerstrom include possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing a prohibited firearm with ammunition, driving while prohibited and carrying a concealed weapon.
Hammerstrom also remains accused of arson from a June incident in which a Quesnel area home burned down.
Charges against Olson include possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possessing a prohibited firearm with ammunition.
Both are scheduled to appear in court Thursday in Kamloops.
