Madison Scott, downtown explosion were top local stories of 2023, Citizen poll finds

In a separate online poll on the Citizen website, Victoria Mcgivern, the downtown explosion survivor, was chosen as the Prince George newsmaker of the year for 2023.

The discovery of Madison Scott’s remains 12 years after she first went missing was the biggest local story of 2023, according to an online poll of Prince George Citizen readers.

That story received 229 votes (32 percent of respondents).

The explosion in downtown Prince George finished second in the poll, with 138 votes (20%).

In a separate online poll on the Citizen website, Victoria Mcgivern, the downtown explosion survivor, was chosen as the Prince George newsmaker of the year for 2023.

She received 210 votes (36% of respondents).

Prince George Mayor Simon Yu - 147 votes (25%)

BC Conservatives leader John Rustad - 133 votes (23%)

Katt Cadieux (homeless, addicts advocate now missing) – 48 votes (8%)

School District 57 trustee Rachael Weber – 43 votes (7%)
