A man known to the police and courts is in custody facing a count of attempted murder with a firearm after an RCMP emergency response team was called to a home in the VLA on Saturday afternoon.
Julien Naseem Abdala Yasin Lazarre, 20, also faces one count each of robbery, breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime and using a firearm in committing an indictable offence.
Prince George RCMP Supt. Warren Brown said police were called at about 5:30 a.m. to a report of someone being shot during a home invasion at a 1300-block Strathcona Avenue home.
Police then moved in on the other home, in the 2200 block of Oak Street, later in the day and two people were arrested. So far only Lazarre has been charged.
An ERT was deployed due to the alleged level of violence in the incident that morning, Brown said.
The victim, who is known to police, suffered non-life-threatening but serious injuries in a targeted attack, Brown said.
Brown said RCMP remain on the lookout for other suspects in relation to the incident.
In August, Lazarre was also the subject of another arrest that involved the ERT. He was subsequently sentenced to nine months probation for willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
