Measuring nearly one metre across, it's a shaggy parasol, and it's edible.
It was too big to fit the whole thing in his frying pan, but Johnson was able to make a meal of it by frying it in butter with a little salt and pepper.
Johnson said he also made a point of cutting it off at the stem, rather than tear it out by its roots, so it could grow back.
