The Men’s Shed Association of British Columbia is looking to open a space in Fort St. John for men’s health and well-being. The Mackenzie and Fraser Lake Men’s Sheds will host a meeting at the Pomeroy Sport Centre on November 16 at 2pm to explain what the association is all about.

"This meeting is open to anyone who has an interest in or concern about men's health and well-being. Most often, that is a woman, you are welcome too. We hope that this meeting will inspire the creation of a Men's Shed in Fort St. John and we are here to help," wrote the group on Facebook.

The association was started an initiative for men to gather and share each other's company, with members bringing their hobbies - woodworking, metalworking, and more, 'The Sky's the limit', noted the group. While the sheds are not therapy, the goal is provide a positive space for men and the concept began in the 1990s.

There are over 40 Men's Sheds in B.C. about 80 in Canada and 3,000 worldwide. Other sheds in northern B.C. include Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake, two in Prince George, and another in McBride.
