Coworkers can be more than just friends, they're family. That's exactly what a local casino showed Friday night (July 12).

Three employees from the Treasure Cove Casino have recently been diagnosed with cancer. Two are battling breast cancer while one is fighting lung cancer.

Employees decided to pull together to host a BBQ fundraiser for their coworkers with some of the funds also going to the Prince George Cancer Clinic. Pop, hotdogs, and chips were all available by donation which ended up raising more than $7,000.

"It feels amazing! We had a ton of support from staff, patrons, past employees, and our families and friends who came to show the love. It was a crazy beautiful evening filled with laughter, tears, and love," Marketing Manager Amanda Chandler tells PrinceGeorgeMatters. "Two of our staff members who are off during treatment were able to make it down and were blown away by the tremendous turnout."

Many in attendance also shaved their heads to show their support for those battling cancer.
